Days Of Jupiter is a Swedish metal band founded in 2010 by Jan Hilli, Jörgen Hellström and Magnus Larsson. The first album saw the light of day in 2021 and three more longplayers have been added to the discography.
Now, six years after the release of “Panoptical”, the Swedes are back and after signing a deal with Reigning Phoenix Music, the fifth longplayer is waiting in the starting blocks.
Days Of Jupiter recorded ten new tracks and follow their direction of powerful metal, with the opener “Original Sin” being the first sign of vibrant metal. Equipped with a good melody the song is still a blasting metal track and the same goes for the following title.
“The World was Never Enough” starts soft and calm before a thundering riff breaks the harmony. The song itself alternates between these calmer moments and the roaring modern sounding riff that returns very regularly before the chorus shows the band’s ability to create a great chorus.
After such a powerful start, “Desolation” is a softer part of the album. It is the acoustic guitar that gently kicks off a song that lets Janne Hilli’s vocal skills shine. It’s definitely a touching moment before the dark vibes of “The Fix” spread their fascination.
“My Heaven My Hell” is another touching moment on the album, but different from “Desolation”. There are calmer and introverted moments, but also heavier outbursts that never overwhelm the listener, as the melody makes the track accessible on first listen.
“Denial” is another grooving metal track, while “Ignite” is another dark moment on “The World Was Never Enough”. Hard-hitting percussion is the heartbeat of this song, which leads you into “Invincible”. The closer of the album reflects everything that was said before, as the band sticks to their standard principles, which doesn’t mean that the album is unpredictable.
“The World Was Never Enough” doesn’t open the portal to a completely new musical horizon. What we have here instead is a modern and powerful metal album. It’s the details and the little twists that make this longplayer so charming, with a dynamic and high-octane sound, which is a kind of dot on the “I”, contributing to the positive perception.
