Review DISRUPTED “Stinking Death”

Five years after the release of “Pure Death”, Swedish metal punks Disrupted return with a new album called “Stinking Death”, the third studio album from the Dalarna-based metal squad.

Disrupted play oldschool death metal and the Swedish roots are not only reflected on the address sticker. There is a lot of Entombed embedded in these 10 songs, of which “Choke on the Cross” is the first roaring thunderstorm. It is a blasting opener that grabs you right away. Raw and untamed, this is how the first song hits your eardrums and it will not be the last challenge for your ears and neck muscles.

“Coffin Breath”, the next morbid tale, is a bit more moderate in tempo, but hits you with the same intensity. The barking vocals of Mikael Hanni and meat cleaver riffs are what the band’s third effort is all about. Pulverizing death metal songs that are like a sonic punch in the face.

It is important to mention that the sound of the album is good and authentic. It is the relentless energy that amplifies the intensity of songs like the furious “Vile Impalement”.

But Disrupted has more to offer than just fast-paced death metal. “Funeral Vomit” is a song that serves as a counterpoint to the album. It is a slower paced headbanger that musically opens the gates of hell.

“Stinking Death” is a diabolic next chapter from the Swedish death metal underground. Disrupted stay true to their roots and evolve the sound. The addition of former Katatonia drummer Daniel Liljekvist has certainly given the band an extra push, and so we can conclude that Disrupted is a band to have on the metal radar.
