“Last to Run” is the latest release from The Pineapple Thief. Bruce Soord and his bandmates are releasing some previously unreleased songs from the “It Leads to This” session. The EP contains a total of five songs, music that deserves to be released.
As mentioned, the idea for these songs goes back to the “It Leads to This” session and evolved from there. It’s the beautiful “All Because Of Me” that starts the album. The song comes with a touching feeling and at the same time shows the musical expertise of Soord and the band. Never being a loud blast, the song still sounds powerful and has its own dynamic. The Pineapple Thief are masters at creating emotions with their music, and “All Because Of Me” is a great example of this gift. The song was also chosen to be the lead single of this effort, a great decision as it reflects the musical approach of this record.
Next up is the title track. In almost seven minutes the band presents some gently swinging moments. The Pineapple Thief create soundscapes you can easily get lost in. It’s music that catches you and lets you escape into a world of harmonies and melodies.
Also worth mentioning is “The World to Me”. Emotional moments and a passion for rock music melt together and show the great craftsmanship of the band. I was even reminded of Rush while listening to this outstanding song
As this is an EP, we are also approaching the end rather quickly. “No Friend of Mine” already marks the final chapter of this release and it is another masterpiece penned by The Pineapple Thief. Great songwriting, creativity and a passion for layers, that’s what makes “No Friend of Mine” special
The latest effort from The Pineapple Thief is a great piece of music. These five songs reflect the full range of sound and music from a band that, like few others, combines experience, creativity and ability to create songs that blossom immediately and at the same time maintain their fascination for a long time.
