The name Storm Corrosion may be known in the wider orbit of rock, while fans of progressive sounds have certainly heard of the band before.
Storm Corrosion is the project of Steven Wilson and Mikael Åkerfeldt. Both have been working together on songs since 2012, and the self-titled album is the fruitful result of this collaboration.
The album shows the duo from a slightly different musical angle than what we know from their main bands. Still, the typical soundscapes are present, while the psychedelic vibe creates a special atmosphere. “Storm Corrosion” is a quiet and introverted album that doesn’t focus on roaring riffs and ferocious growls. The songs are very sensitive and emotional anthems that create a very special vibe.
Twelve years after its original release, KSCOPE is re-releasing the album with a new DOLBY Atmos remix by Steven Wilson. In addition, the album includes the only live song the duo has ever performed.
It was in September 2015, when Åkerfeldt joined Steven Wilson and his band during a show at theRoyal Albert Hall in London. “Drag Ropes,” the album’s opener, was performed at the time and is a special moment in the project’s short lifespan.
