Review RISING INSANE “Wildfires”

“Nation” was the first release from German postcore band Rising Insane, and with “Wildfires” the band now has its fourth full-length in the pipeline. The latest album from the five-piece band deals with all the troubles and hatred that is everywhere. If you look at the current state of society, there is hate, with social media and algorithms fueling things even more. War, depression, inflation and global warming are all issues that are present and weighing heavily on people’s hearts. Rising Insane address these things in their lyrics, wildfires burning in people’s souls.

In this context the artwork for “Wildfires” has to be mentioned, because no matter how dark it is, there is always a ray of light that we sometimes tend to overlook. There is always hope and positive signals.
The guys from Northern Germany embed this mentality in their music as well. There are raging metalcore moments like in “Malicious” and at the same time there are calm and melodic parts that break the rage without glossing over the actual problem.

The opener of the album is called “Reign” and it is a rather optimistic start to the album. No doubt, Rising Insane stick to their musical direction but challenmge the framework. It is an encouraging song with a rather melodic verse before it gets wild in the chorus. “Monster” takes the approach of the opener one step further and the more we hear from the album, the more the band reveals a development of their sound.

The smashing moments “Carousel” is a furious riff monster and one of the heaviest songs on the album. A dark vibe is the fuel for the heavily pounding “Burn”, which is a counterpart to the next track – “The Door”. The latter is an emotional moment on the album. Calm and with only clean vocals, the song is based on a piano session and is the bridge to the furious title track which is almost a summary of everything we’ve heard so far that comes together in “Wildfires”.

The latest release from Rising Insane has a lot of furious moments and at the same time is tangible. Equipped with a very relevant lyrical concept, the guys have created a smashing postcore album that will surely help them solidify their position in German/European metalcore.
