Dutch singer Simone Simons has been a part of Epica for more than two decades, and her voice is a cornerstone of the epic metal outfit.
With a busy schedule and focus on the musical mothership, it wasn’t easy for Simons to find some time to work on a solo album, an undertaking that has been taking shape over the past few months.
Simons teamed up with none other than Arjen Lucassen (Ayreon) and both worked on “Vermillion”, the title of Simons’ first solo effort. The singer hasn’t strayed too far from his musical roots and is still working on epic metal songs with a bombastic sound and a lot of emotion. At the same time it is Lucassen who has helped to give the album a slightly different touch and feel.
Curious? A lead single has already been revealed. “Aeterna” is taken from the upcoming album, which will be released on 23 August 2024 via Nuclear Blast Records, and you can check it out HERE.
