Review THE END MACHINE ‘The Quantum Phase’

The expectations were high when 75% of the legendary Dokken line-up created music in 2018. This resulted in the release of The End Machine’s debut album. Jeff Pilson and George Lynch formed the group together with Mick Brown (former Dokken) and Robert Manson. What began as a project quickly gained momentum, and a sophomore album followed in 2021. Now, three years later, the highly anticipated next record is available in the stores with Lynch and Pilson being the only remaining founding members.

‘The Quantum Phase’ is the title of their third album, and it is their best one yet. Girish Pradhan’s rock’n’roll voice is both melodic and raspy, giving each of the eleven songs a unique touch. The addition of new singer has had a significant impact on the quality of the record. Pradhan’s rock’n’roll voice is both melodic and raspy, giving each of the eleven songs a unique touch. The talented singer seems to have inspired the rest of the band a songs like the powerful ‘Killer of the Night’ are among the best the band has released. While listening to the album, I was reminded of earlier Dokken more than once which is partly due to Lynch’s signature guitar sound, which echoes in the mid-tempo rocker ‘Hunted’.

Additionally, we can enjoy the pulsating ‘Stranger in the Mirror’, which has a catchy chorus without losing its heaviness and there is ‘Shattered Glass Heart’ with its Aerosmith vibes.

The album starts off on a rather dark note. ‘Black Hole Extinction’ begins with a menacing spoken word section before the song reveals its gloomy rock spirit. However, there is enough space for melody in the chorus to allow for a sing-along. The tempo increases slightly with ‘Silent Winter’, a song that is anything but silent, and the same goes for the pounding blues-inspired rocker ‘Stand Up’.

I was pleasantly surprised by The End Machine’s ‘The Quantum Phase’ album. It is a well-crafted and powerful collection of rock songs that exude vitality. The combination of veterans and youthful talent works exceptionally well for the band. It feels like this is just the beginning for this rock’n’roll machine.
