Malmö, in the south of Sweden, is the home of Crazy Lixx. But when you listen to their songs, you feel as if you’ve been sent back to the American West Coast of the 80s.
With a sure instinct for catchy melodies and a powerful guitar sound, the guys began to strive to follow their idols such as Aerosmith, Kiss and Whitesnake in 2002.
After a few line-up changes, Danny Rexon and Joel Cirera have remained from the original formation and have released seven records together with their fellow musicians.
With ‘Street Lethal’, the guys made Malmö’s streets a little wild in 2021, while with ‘Two Shots at Glory’ they are now going for it as gunslingers. Even if the artwork is reminiscent of ‘Young Guns’ in some ways, the album offers anything but a Western soundtrack.
Crazy Lixx’s latest album is a compilation that looks back on the past 20 years. Partly presented as a (’23) version, the guys cruise through two decades of melodic hard rock that pays homage to the glory days of the genre. Even though the album contains a lot of familiar material, songs like the Mötley Crüe-inspired ‘Lights Out! are still great and captivating. ‘Two Shots at Glory’ is an album that you can certainly listen to. However, fans will already know the songs by heart and it remains to be seen whether this compilation will succeed in attracting new fans to Crazy Lixx.
