Review SURGICAL STRIKE ’24/7 Hate’

German riff grinders Surgical Strike launched with ‘Part of a Sick World’ a debut album that hit the shelves in January 2020. As we all know, the months and years to follow haven’t been the best ones for the musical industry as the pandemic put a full stop on all activities. Being a new band, with some first steps in the early 90s though, Surgical Strike couldn’t promote their debut with full force.

Willpower and a passion for thrash metal kept the heartbeat alive and after some unusual years, the five-piece returns now with ‘24/7 Hate’. The guys from the greater Hanover-area are inspired by thrash metal bands of the 80s in general and while bands like Kreator (‘Lonely Decision’) and Exodus (‘The Lesson’) delivered a blueprint for their sound more than once.

What drives the album is a powerful sound and breathtaking speed. ‘24/7 Hate’ is an album that showcases a band with a musical imprint in the 80s, some first steps in the 90s and a full commitment in the 2020th. Even if the eleven songs on the album aren’t mind-blowing unique it is the raw power that create an excellent musical experience.
