Uppsala, Sweden is the home of F.K.Ü. and although the band never had the big breakthrough, F.K.Ü. has a very solid fanbase. The roots of the band go back to 1987 when thrash metal had its first peak. At the time, consistency wasn’t the big thing when it comes to the band and after some ups and downs the debut reached the record stores in 1998. What remained though was the passion for Bay Area–fueled thrash metal that is also the inspiration for ‘The Horror and the Metal’.
The newest album again combines the passion for metal combined with a solid interest on horror movies, being the base for songs and album title. The Swedish mosh masters recorded ten songs, forming the great tracklist of the album.
F.K.Ü. boiled down metal to its essence which means that there are no frills or decoration. Tunes like the raging ‘Don’t Have to Go to Texas’ and the throbbing title track are excellent metal anthems that remind of bands like Exodus, but also S.O.D. with their crossover metal.
Listening to ‘The Horror and the Metal’ is like stepping into a time machine with having arrival year of 1985 on the screen. One just needs to press the ‘Start’-button and the journey will start.
F.K.Ü. and their new album are a delight for metalheads that dig well-crafted 80s thrash metal – raw and with edges.
