Review COMMAND ‘Resver’

It was in 2016 when a band was formed in Arnvika, Sweden. At the time Commando started their dark adventure with a first leg of this journey called ‘Rites of Damnation’. That was in 2020 and since then the four-piece worked in the full-length debut which will hit the shelves end of January this year. And at the same time, the guys changed or better, adjusted their moniker to Command.

‘Resver’ is the rather unusual title of the album. In ancient French ‘resver’ means hallucination or delusion and the title fits the record very well. Listening to the gloomy trip through nine songs on the album there is a constant feel of being caught in a fever dream.

The album is dark and melancholic. There are some parallels with bands like Tribulation and I also had to think of German newcomers The Night Eternal when listening to this release. This name-dropping should just help to give an indication of what to expect as Command still has developed their own sound.

Raw and fierce that is how these songs are blasting out of the speakers. A centerpiece are the hoarse vocals by Robin Bidgoli, which gives each of the track a frantic and wild expression.

Songs that one should check out are the galloping ‘Bleeding Walls’ as well as the haunting ‘Night Shapes’. That the album features with ‘Nightfall’ an intro and also an interlude called ‘Echoes’ helps the flow of the album since both pieces are dramatic additions that help to lift the intensity of the other tracks on ‘Resver’.

‘Resver’ is an interesting and exciting debut album that features songs, fans of darkened and blackened heavy metal might be interested in. Equipped with an unpolished but authentic sound, the album could be the bands springboard for future successes.
