Sunny California is the home of 3Teeth, the band that delivers these days their newest offering called ‚EndEx‘. Four years after having launched ‚Metawar‘ the band returns with their fourth album and delivers 12 new songs.
As on the previous release, 3Teeth deliver industrial metal that reminds of bands like Marylin Manson. At the same time the weirdness factor of bands like slipknot is embedded to without sounding like the Iowa masterminds. Last but not least the sound of ‚EndEx‘ builds on a massive groove factor which is manifested in songs like ‚What‘s Left‘.
The range of sounds though is wider than a hammering beat. The band also works with a lot of samples and synth which gives the record a clean and oppressive vibe. The opener ‚Xenogenesis‘ one of these moments when the synth define the song while the riffpower interrupts the electric vibe and roars out of the speakers. With a monotone beat the song also has an hypnotic factor which also returns in some of the other tracks of the album.
What more? ‚Slum Planet‘ with its marching rhythm reminds in parts of the industrial of the 90s while ‚Merchant of the Void‘ sound dark and oppressive. ‚Ali3n‘ is the weirdest and most complex song on the album with a lot of sample experiments embedded.
The calmer tones are the base of the rather melodic ‚Drift‘. In a way the song is the perfect bridge to the cover version that follows. Tears For fears had with ‚Everybody Wants to rule the world‘ a real hit and went right into the charts. 3Teeth cover this smash hit and add the industrial factor to it. Not moving too far away from the original version the song still has a much more sinister and cold vibe which fits actually very well.
‚EndEx‘ is an album that will be interesting for industrial metal fans that dig a solid groove. Versatility and an emotional factor is what makes this album to a good one without ‚EndEx‘ revolutionizing industrial metal.
