Review SCUMBAG MILLIONAIRE ‚All Time Low‘

Bands like Hellacopters, Backyard Babies and Glucifier have been the trailblazers for Scandinavian rock music. Their sound and attitude inspired other bands to follow a similar path and one of these outfits are Scumbag Millionaire.

Founded 2014 in Gothenburg, Sweden the four-piece band blends hard rock with the anarchic spirit of punk rock, resulting in an energetic musical blast. Two longplayers have been launched until now with ‚Poor and Famous‘ having been the latest to date. September 2023 is the moment when the awaited third longplayer will reach the record stores. ‚All Time Low‘ is the title of this longplayer and what fans of high-octane rock can expect is certainly not a downer. ‚All Time Low‘ is equipped qith fourteen songs and from the opener ‚A-Bomb‘ to the closing ‚Big City Rumble‘, Scumbag Millionaire show their passion for some dirty rock‘n‘roll.

‚A-Bomb‘ is the untamed beginning of the album and sets the tone of voice for what to expect from ‚All Time Low‘. It‘s a less than two-minute blast that roars out of the speakers and is the ultimate wake-up call. Next in line is ‚You Gimme Nothin‘ and things slow down a bit. Not that song has less vigor; it‘s just kept in a more moderate pace before the uptempo title track brings back the dirty roots of rock‘n‘roll.

These three songs provide an excellent overview of what to expect. They represent the basic formula of Scumback Millionaire in all its shades. ‚Devil Street‘ with the embedded piano, the massive ‚Demon Blood‘ and merciless ‚Let‘s Get Outta Here‘; they are all dynamic musical blasts with all brakes released.

‚Big City Rumble‘ is the anthemic closer of the album, a song that can work pretty well during live shows. What is remarkable is the fact of Scumback Millionaire not making use of calmer moments. Each of the songs is a full blast. This also means that there is a lot of the same just different what fans of electrifying rock music get offered here.

Still, ‚All Time Low‘ is a passionate album by a band that takes the inspiration from the mentioned Scandirock bands and add their own twist to it.
