Review DANKO JONES ‘Electric Sounds’

Canadian hard rock enthusiast Danko Jones is coming up with a new album. ‚Electric Sounds‘ is the title of the 13th album by the Jones and follows the 2021 release ‚Power Trio‘. Danko Jones, the band, also features longtime bandmate John Calabrese on bass as well as drummer Rich Knox, who joined the trio in 2013.

‚Electric Sounds‘ picks it up where Danko Jones left off with the previous longplayer. High-octane rock is what fans of the power trio expect and it is also what the newest release delivers.

The opener ‚Guess Who‘s Back‘ kicks things off and is a pounding hard rock anthem which was released already as a single some time prior to the album release. ‚Stiff Competition‘ is a smoothly rocking track and it is the following ‚She‘s My Baby‘ that blasts out of the speakers with authority. ‚Eye For An Eye‘ reflects a punky vibe and it is ‚What Goes Around‘, building on the same approach.

‚Electric Sounds‘ isn‘t too long. With 37 minutes the longplayer could have handled a couple of addition songs but since this isn‘t the case we come to the end with the straight-forward rocker ‚Shake Your City‘.

Danko Jones release with ‚Electric Sounds‘ an album that fully lives up to expectation and at the same time doesn‘t surprise with new twists. Good time rock‘n‘roll is what this longplayer offers and it will be the upcoming live shows that will be even more intense than what the album puts in the window.
