Swiss singer Seraina Telli is known from her days with Burning Witches. After two studio albums and one live album, Telli parted ways with Burning Witches and started her solo career. The debut album called ‘Simple Talk’ was revealed in 2022 and not even a year later, the sophomore record is waiting in line.
The main color in rock and metal is black, which, according to the book, not even a color. There might be also some denim blue connected to the harder genres of music but not much more. Therefor it is a brave thing to call an album ‘Addicted to Color’. Yet Telli decided to go for such a title and the artwork of the album reflects the love for colors right away.
And not only that the artwork is motley, but the music also has all kinds of good vibe shades too.
‘Song for the Girls’, ‘Monkey & Zookeeper’ and ‘left Behind’, those are the first three songs, and they are perfectly chosen to represent the album. While the first two track are fast and furious, it is ‘Left Behind’ that starts slow and evolves to another rock anthem.
Regardless which song you pick, each of them comes with a catchy melody that is hard to resist. In general, the rocking songs on ‘Addicted to Color’ are the highlights, but also ballads such as ‘The Harder way’ spread their charm, being soulful moments with a touching component.
The bottom part of the tracklist presents songs, that can compete too. There is the emotional ‘Spaceman’ that alternates between calmer moments and rocking outbursts in the chorus and there is the straightforward ‘The Colors of My Soul’.
Telli delivers with ‘Addicted to Color’ a truly colorful album that provides good vibe music. Regardless how grey the everyday life looks like; these songs add colors to it and enable everybody to have a good time.
