Review PRIDE OF LIONS ‘Dream Higher’

Jim Peterik and Toby Hitchcock are the driving forces when it comes to Pride Of Lions and I’m not really sure if everybody back in 2003 expected the band to be such a long time in business. Two decades after the debut album saw the light of day it is ‘Dream Higher’ being the seventh prove of work from Pride Of Lions.

‘Dream Higher’ features ten AOR hymns that build on expertise and dedication. Pride Of Lions waste any time and start the album with an upbeat rocker called ‘Blind to Reason’. Melodies, vocals and an impressive solo part is what makes the song to a great opener of an album that spends joy and entertainment.

The title track is a melodic midtempo song that certainly allows to dream higher. For listeners it is the positive spirit of the song and for the band it is the quality level that allows them to dream higher too.

The uptempo ‘Find Somebody to Love’ is like an energizing summer breeze, followed by the partly soulful ‘Another Life’. It is an ease to surf through this album since each of the songs is captivating by the melodies provided. The gently swinging ‘Driving and Dreaming’ is as good as the grooving and bass driven ‘Through it All’, the latter reminding of the glorious 80s. And not to forget the closer ‘Generational’ which marks the stellar finale of the album.

‘Dream Higher’ is a summer vibe album. With its great melodies and the lightness that swings with each of the songs, this record provides a good time that we all deserve.
