ERIDU revealed a new single

With the album ‘Enuma Elish’ Eridu revive the heritage of the long lost Mesopotamian high civilization. Named after the oldest city of Mesopotamia, the Munich-based band opens another chapter of oriental extreme metal.

After their debut ‘Lugalbanda’ (2019) was able to cause a stir nationally as well as internationally (Wacken Metal Battle Finale Germany 2022, Inferno Metal Festival 2022 in Oslo), Eridu continue their narrative concept with their second full length album ‘Enuma Elish’.

Loosely based on the first words of the Babylonian creation myth of the same name: “When the heavens were not yet named” (transl.: “Enuma Elish”), Eridu lead their audience into spheres of the early Babylonian pantheon, in which Babylon’s city god Marduk fights for supremacy in a bloody war. Legendary battles, mystical god cults and the creation of planets, earth and man help ‘Enuma Elish’ to create a dense, epic and sinister atmosphere that takes the listener back to ancient Mesopotamia in full intensity. The seven cuneiform tablets of ‘Enuma Elish’ are represented here in a chronological way lyrically and thematically by seven songs, which makes Enuma Elish a coherent epic.

‘Enuma Elish’ was mixed at Stockholm’s Wing Studios by Sverker Widgren, (Diabolical, Centinex, October Tide), with mastering entrusted to Hertz Studios in Poland (Behemoth, Vader, Decapitated). With the booking for the prestigious Inferno Metal Festival 2022 in Oslo and many other festivals in 2022, it is clear that Eridu also knows how to convince on big stages.

Driven by high tempos and blastbeat-oriented drums, Eridu bridges the gap between pounding death metal and melodic black metal. Gritty riffing meets epic wall of sound. Packaged in a narrative oriental garb, Eridu stands for sophisticated, versatile extreme metal that fluidly blends genre boundaries. Lovers of Nile, Melechesh, Behemoth and Keep of Kalessin will get their money’s worth here.
