Once a guitar hero and for years more of a rock bard, Ritchie Blackmore is both. Acclaimed as the guitarist of Deep Purple, respected as the bandleader of Rainbow and always a disputatious representative of hard rock, that’s how fans knew the musician who significantly shaped classic rock.
In the second half of the 90s, a development took place that led Blackmore to end the Rainbow era in order to start something new. Together with his wife Candice Night, Blackmore’s Night was initiated. What threw fans of the exceptional musician in the face was the move towards medieval-based folk music in which the roots of rock were only very partially recognizable and still are today.
Blackmore’s Night delivered their debut album in 1997 with ‘Shadow of the Moon’ and the arithmeticians among us will quickly realize that this was 25 years ago.
To properly celebrate the anniversary of the debut album and add another statement to the musical direction, Blackmore’s Night is releasing an anniversary edition of ‘Shadow of the Moon’ these days via earMUSIC.
For the 25th Anniversary Edition, the original recordings have been converted to HD audio for the first time and are entirely remixed. The iconic original artwork has been refreshed and reworked in preparation for the anniversary.
The reissue comes in various formats and also includes ‘Spirit of the Sea’ and ‘Shadow of the Moon’, two of the well-known songs in a new acoustic version.
All physical first editions also contain an exclusive “Shadow Of The Moon” documentary on DVD as a bonus.
