Last In Line is not only the name of a legendary Dio album. It is also the moniker of a quartet consisting of former Dio companions. After the guys have released two albums, they bring these days with ‘A Day in the Life’ a new EP to the market.
However, ‘new’ is relative here. The title track was already released in July this year as a pre-release single and now it will be published as a 12″. That the quartet has chosen a The Beatles song shows where the musical roots are. Without moving too far away from the original, Last In Line have nevertheless managed to give their versions their own touch and give the classic from ‘Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’ some metallic life.
Last In Line are Phil Soussan, Vivian Campbell and Vinnie Appice, plus frontman Andrew Freeman. This quartet also put with ‘Hurricane Orlagh’ a new song on this EP, a good teaser for what we can expect on a third album.
To round off the 12″ Last In Line have pressed with ‘Devil In Me’ and ‘Give Up the Ghost’ two live recordings on these discs.
Thus ‘A Day in the Life’ has definitely turned out to be an interesting EP, which bridges the time to the next studio album. And since the 12″ is also released as vinyl via earMUSIC, the record should be even more interesting.
