Today I would like to guide your attention to a band that isn’t known that much, yet. Ækjubohra is the moniker of a young and hungry band from the greater Rostock area in Germany.

Not only that the guys play an energetic mix of rock, stoner, garage and punk, the band also has a good sense of humor that starts with the band name. If you take the German word Akkubohrer (cordless drill) and giving in an English accent you end up with Ækjubohra. After having uncovered the myth of the band name, let’s fpcus on the music.

The self-titled longplayer comes with ten songs and as mentioned, it’s high-octane rock with the nonconformity of punk that drives the album. While listening to songs like ‘Auf Derbie’ the stoner rock aspect comes to shine too, being the glue that keeps it all together.

‘Auf Derbie’ brings me to another unusual topic. Ækjubohra has decided to go for German song titles while having the lyrics in English. All this manifests that nothing with this album is how things usually are approached and this is the anarchic charm of ‘Ækjubohra’.

These three guys definitely follow their heart and released an album that is pure power from start to finish. These songs are not about trends or commercial success.
