CD review BRUCE SOORD ‘All This Will Be Yours’

(9/10) Bruce Soord is one of the brains behind The Pineapple Thief, Prog Rock icons that doesn’t need any explanation. Next to this engagement Soord also releases solo albums of which ‘All This Will Be Yours’ is number two.

Soord can be seen as a sound architect. Music, feel and emotional depth are the main building blocks, being the foundation of ‘All This Will Be Yours’. The greatness is that Soord not only has a musical vision, he also has the capabilities at hand to realize them, resulting in a sound collage that has more than a wow.

‘All This Will be Yours’ is an ambitious album that combines musical complexity with the beauty of melodies. Soord’s second release isn’t a loud one. It’s a warm and gentle vibe that swings with each of the nine tracks the album offers.

Soord’s second release is a touching one. It’s a very personal record with the multi-instrumentalist being inspired by the birth of his third child and all the joy that come with it. Next to this joyful experience songs are also influenced by the local deprivation in his hometown. Combining these two factors led to an authentic and very well-sounding longplayer.

It goes without saying that a solo release of Bruce Soord comes with an excellent sound too, supporting the emotional impact in a good fashion. Summing up all the mentioned means that Soord created a next solo album that shows the beauty of layered Rock music. It’s an impactful and emotional journey, a great story told in notes and tones. It’s a longplayer you can almost feel instead of solely listen to. Great stuff for ears and mind.
