When Cradle of Filth achieved commercial success in the early 1990s with their black metal-rooted sound influenced by symphonic metal, they were downright despised by many metal bands. Today, the band led by singer and founder Dani Filth, with their iconic corpse paint, theatrical performances, imaginative artwork, and diverse sound, is considered one of the most successful extreme metal bands in England and is celebrated at festivals and on tours around the world.
