MIDNIGHT ‘s Athenar and ‘Whitespade’

One man project Midnight is driven by Athenar. Hailing from Cleveland, Ohio the musician and band took the world by storm. Numerous releases and energetic live shows made Midnight talk of the town. The raw metal and the blend of black and speed metal is inspired by bands like Venom. Now, a further source of influence comes to shine.

Athenar released an album under the moniker of Whitespade. Name and artwork indicate about whem we are talking about. The dirty rock’n’roll of Motörhead had an impact on the musician too and the album, first released in 2022, honors Athenar inspiration.

A total of ten songs can be found on ‘Whitespade’, all smashing metal tracks which are raw and loud. There are no acoustic guitars on this album nor you will find epic compositions. These ten anthems are boiled down to the essence of metal and rock. What remains are boisterous songs like ‘Below the Law’ and the dirty grooving ‘On the Loose’. There is no chance listening to these tracks without challenging the neck-muscles due to intense headbanging.
