CD review ALCATRAZZ ‘Parole Denied – Toyko 2017’

(*/10) It was in 2017 when singer Graham Bonnet together with the Graham Bonnet Band toured in Japan, promoting the latest release ‘The Book’. Since Bonnet is the founding member of the legendary Alctarazz the idea was born to add three Alcatrazz reunion shows to the Japan tour.

What started as a thought became reality. Bonnet, together with Alcatrazz founding members Jimmy Waldo and Gary Shea reactivated the legendary band for three shows – one in Osaka, one in Nagoya and one in Tokyo.

The base for this release is the Tokyo show, performed in front of an enthusiastic audience.  ‘Parole Denied – Tokyo 2017’ comes is CD as well as it will be available as DVD. The release comprises of 11 songs, representing Alctrazz discography very well. In addition to the live songs the second CD includes demo material from the original recording session in 2985 with ‘Emotion’ including guitar wizard Steve Vai.

All in all it’s to conclude that ‘Parole Denied – Tokyo 2017’is a well-done live release that captures a unique moment for fans of hard rock music. Alctrazz has the status of being a legend and also being the springboard, not only for Graham Bonnet, but also fi=or guys like Yngwie Malmsteen and Steve Vai. Although the latter two haven’t been part of the Japan shows there are still enough triggers for going for this release.
