Mike Lepond and his enthusiastic band mates show once again how well done and powerful heavy metal should sound. Without losing the basic structures, LePond gives this album so many twists and turns that you want to press the start button again.
Soundwise Buffalo Summer is rooted in Hard Rock of the '70s/'80s with bands Like Led Zeppelin, Free and Whitesnake being a strong source of inspiration. The quartet uses these influences and connect them with a modern sound, leading to grooving and dynamic songs like 'Hit the Ground Running' and 'Deep Water'.
'School of Hard Knocks' is a authentic album without frills. It's an album that carries street life vibes and is done with a down-to-earth mindset. In this way it reflects exactly what Biff Byford stands for, making 'School of Hard Knocks' to a real Byford solo album.
