One of the bands that was growing the fastest over the last years is certainly Powerwolf from Saarbrücken, Germany. Referred to as being the high priests of Heavy Metal, the band can show impressive achievements, which were maybe a dream scenario back in 2005, when the guys unveiled their debut album. But sometimes dreams become... Continue Reading →
Friday starts with a new PRIMAL FEAR video
Primal Fear will release their highly anticipated 13th studio album, „Metal Commando“ on July 24th. The title of the album is self-explainatory - „Metal Commando“ contains 110% Primal Fear and is full to the brim with their signature power and energy. Last month, the band released the first single 'Along Came The Devil’. Today, the second single 'I Am Alive'... Continue Reading →
CD review BEYOND THE BLACK ‘Hørizøns’
Looking at the success of their previous albums one has to state that Beyond The Black certainly belong to the more successful German rock band these days. Nevertheless, Jennifer Haben and bandmates did not always receive only positive feedback. Especially the year 2016 was a caesura, with Haben replacing all her musicians, a full line-up... DOKKEN announce ‘The Lost Songs: 1978-1981’
It wasn’t always multi-platinum sales and stadium gigs for Dokken. There was a first-phase and there were early days, and it is those bold first steps to stardom which are celebrated comprehensively on Dokken’s The Lost Songs: 1978-1981 album, out on August 28th 2020 through Silver Lining Music. Featuring spectacular sleeve art by renowned US artist Tokyo Hiro (Motörhead,... Continue Reading →
CD review GRAVE DIGGER ‘Fields of Blood’
People mention the term of being in a 'new reality' all the time these days. The more it's important to have a few anchor points providing continuity in times of radical change. One of these anchors is called 'Fields of Blood' and is Grave Digger's new album. The clansmen from North Rhine-Westfalia are back with... Continue Reading →

In times of Covid-19, cancelled live shows and more, there is also more positive news to report. One of it is a new Firewind album, which will be released on May 15th. Firewind guitarist Gus G. made some time for MHMB and provides some details about the new album and gives also some insight into how the current crisis affects him as a musician.
CD review FIREWIND ‘Firewind’
Gus G. and Firewind have been in the business for 20 years now and after such a long time the guys release a self-titled new album, a new treat of melodic metal. 'Firewind' is like a kind of new beginning, considering the fact that long time member Bob Katsionis left the band and Henning Basse... Continue Reading →
CD review BLOODBOUND ‘Bloodheads United’
Bloodbound stands for Melodic Metal from Sweden, presented by several longplayers but also a significant amount of live shows. Four years ago the first Bloodbound live album has been released and now it is an EP, being the next live coverage from the Swedish steel workers, at least looking at four out of five songs.... CD review NIGHTWISH ‘HUMAN. :II: NATURE.’
Nightwish add with 'HUMAN. :II: NATURE.' their most mature album to their long list of musical achievements. Supported by an excellent production the Symphonic Metal spearhead brings songs to the plate, wowing from start to end. Although things seem to be planned to detail, there is still ease embedded that makes the album to a stellar listening experience. Bombast Symphonic Metal can't sound much better than what 'HUMAN. :II: NATURE.' offers. This album lifts the bar to a level that will not be reached that easily, maybe not even by Nightwish anymore.

CD review DYNAZTY ‘The Dark Delight’
In some of my earlier reviews I referred to the great sense of Swedish Rock bands for hooklines and melodies. Dynazty isn't an exception. The new longplayer 'The Dark Delight' is filled with a lot of this key ingredient without solely relying on it. The band, that started in 2008 in Stockholm, uses great melodies... Continue Reading →
CD review AXXIS ‘Virus of a Modern Time’
Bernhard Weiss and band mates show that new situations demand adjusted game plans. 'Virus of a Modern Time' isn't the result of a longterm planning process. It's an EP with great songs that have been reactivated, acting as some musical sun-rays in days of darkness.
CD review RIOT ‘Rock World’
‘Rock World’ is like opening a treasure box. The well-selected songs show that greatness of Riot and honors Mark Reale and Riot in a great fashion. Riot is much bigger than what any sales figures ever showed and this rarity collection underlines the importance of Riot for Heavy Metal.
CD review BONFIRE 'Fistful of Fire'
Bonfire is more and more finding back to old strength and 'Fistful of Fire' can compete with the ‘Point Blank’-days, something I truly doubted during the last decades. 'Fistful of Fire' showcases a band that's on fire. Check it out.
