Seven songs, 34 minutes ... Metal doesn't need much more than that, at least when it comes to Evoke and their new longplayer 'Seeds of Death'. Metal purists will love the album since the three Norwegians deliver right to the money. After having started the band in 2016 two demos has been released that paved... Continue Reading →
CD review OCEANS OF SLUMBER ‘Oceans Of Slumber’
As I wrote in a post the other day, music is about emotions and the expression of those. What could be better in such a context than reflecting on own emotions, connected to personal experiences, and translating those into notes and lyrics. This is what makes a tune and an album tangible and real. It... Continue Reading →

CD review STRYPER ‘Even the Devil Believes’
Summertime is bubble bee time and yellow/black is the color of the season. Thinking about yellow/black brings of course also Metal to metalheads' minds. California-based Stryper brought these colors to Heavy Metal in the second half on the '80s when the quartet started their quite special mission. The first records have been discussed controversially and... Continue Reading →
CD review ZAKK SABBATH ‘Vertigo’
Covering such a milestone album always includes a higher risk risk of failure. If someone can make such an endeavor to a success it is Zakk Wylde, Blasko and Joey Castillo. Musical capabilities and savvy comes units with a passion for the sound of their idols, the earlier giving the trio the possibility to interpret the music in perfection, that latter allowing the guys to get the right vibe and spirit in place.
CD review MANTICORA ‘To Live To Kill To Live’
'To Live To Kill To Live' is the new Manticora album and the title can easily confuse since the predecessor was named 'To Kill To Live To Kill'. However, the naming of the two albums shows that there is a link that connects them, which is the storyline. Both records are based on a novel,... Continue Reading →
CD review METALLICA & SAN FRANCISCO SYMPHONY ‘S&M 2’
'S&M2' is better than the first attempt from 20 years ago and certainly the new version will become another commercial success for the Metal veterans from the Bay Area. Some of the songs are actually done very well, although the entire album feels like band and orchestra playing next to each other more than performing together as a unit. Combining two pieces of a puzzle doesn't necessary create a great total and that's a bit the case with this release too. The idea of making such an album is awesome and leaving the comfort-zone a bit more would have added extra excitement. 'Let's play safe' is the focus more than leaving the known.

CD review VICIOUS RUMORS ‘Celebration Decay’
Vicious Rumors is known for a lot of things but certainly not for a consistent line-up. The number of musical contributors that supported Geoff Thorpe in achieving his musical vision of Metal is countless and also the new album features new members. This time it is lead vocalist Nick Courtney and guitarist Gunnar Dügrey who have... Continue Reading →

This ’metal commando’ is not intended to take prisoners. This album, with its 11 Metal bullets, hit bulls eye constantly and if you have been a fan of Primal Fear’s dynamic and powerful Metal in the past, the new album will be appreciated. Furious guitars and a strong groove, combined with a great sense for melodies makes this record to a delight for headbangers. Horns up.
