BPMD is a new name in Metal although the protagonists are very well-known. BPMD – simply the abbreviation for Bobby Blitz (Overkill), Mike Portnoy (The Winery Dogs Sons Of Apollo), Mark Menghi (Metal Allegiance) and Phil Demmel (Violence, ex-Machine Head).
These four guys unveil today a first song, a cover version. They re-did Aerosmith’s ‘Toys in the Attic‘ and the result is a blistering version of a timeless Hard Rock hymn.
Frontman Bobby Blitz says about “Toys In The Attic”:
“I remember waaaaaaaaaaay back when Overkill formed, we were cutting our teeth on covers as I was finding my way around the mic. The Aerosmith covers were right in my wheelhouse, so when Mike [Portnoy] picked ‘Toys’ to cover, I was like… ‘Hell Yea’!”
Guitarist Phil Demmel adds about recording the track:
“It was tricky because Aerosmith have two guitarists, Joe Perry and Brad Whitford, playing different things. So, as one guitar player, I had to pick a medium place between the two that sounded good. I thrashed it up a little by adding a lot of down picking and some gallops and triplets.”
Last but not least, cover and tracklist of the upcoming album ‘American Made’ have been revealed too:
- Wang Dang Sweet Poontang
- Toys in the Attic
- Beer Drinkers & Hell Raisers
- Saturday Night Special
- Tattoo Vampire
- Walk Away
- Never in My Life
- We’re an American Band
Release date is June 12th and the album comes via Napalm Records. Stay tuned.
