It was four years ago that "Kvitravn" - the white raven - spread its wings, and today it is "Birna" that marks the next step in Wardruna's career. The outfit is the brainchild of Einar Selvik, the driving force behind the band, and the latest release showcases the powerful sounds that Wardruna stands for. "Birna"... Continue Reading →
Review JUDAS PRIEST ‘Invincible Shield’
There are just a few bands like Judas Priest. For 19 albums and more than 50 years of heavy metal, the band has shown no signs of fatigue. Despite a few controversial albums, Judas Priest has never really disappointed, and it was the return of metal god Rob Halford in 2003 that gave the band... Continue Reading →
Review STEEL PANTHER ‘On the Prowl’
From the beginning, Steel Panther was only partly about music. Entertainment was what stood in focus since the first days of the comedy glam rock band and this has not changed in 2023. With 'On the Prowl' the band of four make-up fanatics release their sixth album and don't change the trademarks. Sleaze rock and... Continue Reading →
CD review EVANESCENCE ‘The Bitter Truth’
It took a while until Evanescence returned with a new album. It has already been ten years that the band released their third album 'Evanescence'. A three-year break and major changes such as the split of the record label Wind-Up Records were factors that did not really benefit work on a new album. However, as... Continue Reading →

CD review WARDRUNA ‘Kvitravn’
Wardruna’s new masterpiece was announced for a release in summer 2020 and had to be postponed to January 2021. Limitations and restriction, based on the pandemic situation, forced the band to bring their new longplayer to the record stores a bit later than expected. In the meantime the new release date is announced, which will... Continue Reading →
CD review BURY TOMORROW ‘Cannibal’
The basic mood on 'Cannibal' is certainly in strong contrast to the current summertime. It's not light and color which are the main focus and spirit. Darkness and uncompromising emotional honesty is what makes this longplayer to an emotional contrast to what the eye sees these days. If you've got enough sun and want to spend some time on (self-) reflection, you've found your soundtrack with 'Cannibal'.
CD review OZZY OSBOURNE ‘Ordinary Man’
'Ordinary Man' more than just a longplayer that carries music. It is a record that features a lot of feel. There are moments when the emotional intensity reminded me of Johnny Cash's legendary version of 'Hurt'. 'Ordinary Man' of course carries the heavier songs but it's the emotional moments that makes this longplayer so special. Throughout the eleven songs featuring tracklist an underlying feeling of 'goodbye' is what touches you as a listener. This album feels like the final delivery to a musical legacy of one of the greatest and multifaceted singers in Heavy Metal, a pioneer and an idol for generations of musicians. Thank you Ozzy Osbourne for giving the Metal world this longplayer and thank you for all the earlier releases that made this music genre to what it is.

(8/10) This album is a kind of jubilee for Papa Roach, being the tenth album of the successful rock engine. ‘Why Do You Trust?’ is the name of this new longplayer, featuring 12 new tracks. The album picks things up where the quartet left off with ‘Crooked Teeth’, with the only exception of becoming even... Continue Reading →
CD review GOTTHARD ‘Defrosted 2’
(8/10) Although Europe isn't fully covered by winterly frost, de-icing is available. It might help less outdoors, but what Gotthard adds to their musical offer is an album that's for sure heart-warming. It was in 1997 when the Swiss-based rocker presented their soulful side with an album entitled 'D-Frosted'. After having released three hard rocking records... Continue Reading →
