CD review HANK VON HELL ‘Egomania’

(9/10) ‘Egomania’ ends eight years of waiting, with fans of the singer desperately looking forward to some new material and songs. It seems like the wishes have been heard by the legendary frontman of Turbonegro. Hank Von Hell is back with a new album entitled ‘Egomania’.

This album comes out of leftfield and is a very positive surprise. Hank Von Hell recorded 10 new songs for this solo album and each of them is a hardrock anthem. Uptempo smashers like ‘Dirty Money’ as well as the easy-going ‘Wild Boy Blues’ are rockers that create a smile on peoples faces from the very first moment on. There is no need for warming up. ‘Egomania’ works perfectly from the very first spin on the record player and showcases the singer at his best.

Great riffs, a punching rock-n-roll beat and extremely well-crafted hooks create a party vibe right away. It’s hard to not get impressed by this album. Tracks like the fast-paced ‘Too High’ belong to the best hardrock has brought to the mix since quite a while. The album comes to an end far too early with the glorious ‘Adios (Where is My Sombrero?)’ and let’s hope that this song is no prediction in the sense of ‘Egomania’ being the last album of Hank Von Hell. And now, stop reading and start listening to ‘Egomania’
