CD review IRON LAMB ‘Blue Haze’

(7/10) Swedish Iron Lamb will release their newest longplayer end of October. ‘Blue Haze’ is the crucial album number three in the bands history and follows ‘Fool’s Gold’, which saw the light of day in 2015.

The new record isn’t an album that’s extremely overloaded with songs. Actually it’ a rather limited amount of music you get with ‘Blue Haze’. Eight tracks and a 38 minutes running time means that there would have been some room for 2-3- additional songs. So if it’s not the quantity that leads to excitement it should be the quality. Things look much better from this angle.

‘Blue Haze’ is clearly inspired by bands like Motörhead. Songs like ‘Bound by Gravity’ and ‘Erase Rewind’ speak for themselves. The beat, the guitar sounds and the vocals remind more than once of Lemmy Kilmister and Co.. These tunes are framed by the opener, ‘Apocalypse Express’, and the closer, ‘Dead Beat’, both reflecting the classic rock passion of the Swedish quartet.

Does ‘Blue Haze’ come with new moments that wow? Probably not. Do Iron Lamb spark a rock firework? They for sure do. To conclude, if you’re looking for some well-done rock music that contains energy and dedication, than you should check out ‘Blue Haze’ since you might like it.
