CD review THE THREE TREMORS ‘The Three Tremors’

(8/10) The Three Tremors, that’s a wowing collaboration of three of the best singers in traditional metal. It’s a cooperation of no less than Cage’s frontman Sean ‘The Hell Destroyer’ Peck, Tim ‘Ripper’ Ownes and Harry ‘The Tyrant’ Conklin with Peck being the initiator. Already the fact that these three guys worked together on an album is great news and what’s even better is the result of this common endeavor.

What began years ago on the road, while Cage was the support act for Judas Priest, turned into The Three Tremors after Harry Conklin joined the project too.

I don’t think that I need to write long stories about the quality of the vocals. High-pitch screams, aggressive metal vocals and powerful intonation is what you’re used to from these guys and it’s exactly what this album is about. 100% heavy metal. This album lives by its oldschool metal vibe that has its roots in the ’80s. Tunes like ‘When the Last Scream Fades’ show a link to Judas Priest during the ‘Painkiller’-days which isn’t a bad reference at all.

Other songs you should check are the fast ‘The Cause’ and the uptempo ‘Fly or Die’. The Three Tremors are best when keeping the tempo up high but also some of the moderate paced tracks are a sonic metal treat. The galloping rhythm of ‘King of the Monsters’ is fascinating and the anthemic ‘Sonic Suicide’ belongs to the highlights also.

‘The Three Tremors’ is an album that revitalizes traditional heavy metal in a professional and passionate way. None of the guys needs to prove to be a great singer, they are. This gives the trio the freedom to follow their metal heart and that’s what this album is about. Horns up.
