Review WHEEL “Charismatic Leaders”

Wheel stands for prog metal from Finland since 2017. James Lascelles (vocals/guitar), Santeri Saksala (drums) and Jussi Turunen (lead guitar), these guys are Wheel and they have delivered two longplayers and three EPs. With "Charismatic Leaders" the next studio album is on the way and it will be seven multi-layered and still melodic songs that... Continue Reading →

Review CROWNSHIFT “Crownshift”

Crownshift is a new band founded in 2023. However, the band members are longtime contributors to the Finnish heavy metal scene. Children Of Bodom, Nightwish, Finntroll - these are just some of the bands the guys from Crownshift have been or are still in. Crownshift's sound in a way represents the influences of these mentioned... Continue Reading →

Review FREEDOM CALL “Silver Romance”

When a band has been around for 25 years and has released ten longplayers, they obviously have a very solid fan base. Freedom Call from Germany is one such band. Formed in 1998 and releasing their first album "Stairway to Fairyland" a year later, they the path of path of "happy metal" for many years,... Continue Reading →

Review P.O.D. “Veritas”

P.O.D. was founded in 1992 and the guys were right on time. It was the beginning of a wave of nu metal and modern metal bands that rolled over the metal scene in the 90s. Thunderous riffing and massive energy was what these bands brought, and it was the infectious groove that allowed these groups... Continue Reading →

Review RIOT V “Mean Streets”

I don't think Riot needs much of an introduction. The band, founded in 1975 by Mark Reale, has delivered great albums. "Fire Down Under" and "Thundersteel" are some of the best US metal ever brought to the plate. At the same time, Riot was one of the really underrated bands, even though they played the... Review SIX BY SIX ‘Beyond Shadowland’

SiX By SiX are three - three musicians with very solid backgrounds in rock music. Ian Crichton (Saga), Nigel Glockler (Saxon) and Robert Berry (3.2). After releasing a debut album in 2022, the guys went back into the studio to record their second album called 'Beyond Shadowland'. The roots of the band/project go back a... Continue Reading →

Review LŸNX ‘Claws Out’

It is important to note that Lÿnx is not Lynx. While the latter is a band from Germany, this is Lÿnx from Calgary, Canada. The Canadian quartet was formed in 2020 and it is the shared love for 80s hairspray metal that brought Ja6ur, Blade, Fangs and Flash together. Inspired by bands like Mötley Crüe,...
