CD review ORGANIC ‘Carved in Flesh’

(7/10) A geographical area you usually don’t connect to metal is South Tyrol in the Italian Alps. Wine, apples, food and a lot of sun is what stands for this region, a great place for vacation. However, there’s also metal hailing from Bruneck, shading the hot South Tyrolean sun.

Organic calls the city their home base and the quartet is into death metal. The band was formed in 2013 and worked with full speed on a first EP, which was released in 2014. The full-length debut had to wait until 2018 and after having inked a deal with Testimony Records, the guys are ready to go.

‘Carved in Flesh’ is the title of a nine tracks comprising album. Organic’s music is inspired by old school Swedish death metal bands like Grave and Dismember, but also Dutch Asphyx is a band that created a certain blueprint for Organic.

‘Carved in Flesh’ might not include the most unique death metal and also from a craftsmanship, a few things could be further developed. However, the power the quartet generates is enormous. Heavy riffing is a fundamental element of Organic and the breaks the guys embed are spot-on. Organic brings South Tyrol on the metal radar and proves that the underground is alive, even if the genre is called death metal.
